National Private Pilots Licence
You will be training for a National Private Pilot Licence . This entitles you to fly a UK registered aircraft within Europe up to a maximum take-off weight of 2000kg, for private and recreational purposes only.
With this license you can fly with a maximum of three passengers. So why not fly friends to the Scilly Isles for lunch, or family to Paris for a weekend break! The possibilities are endless!
Pre-Course Requirements
Age
You are able to start training at 14, and start flying solo at 16! but must be a minimum of 17 years old to obtain your private pilot’s licence. In order to solo you must have a Class 2 Medical.
Medical
In order to fly solo and complete your LAPL you must obtain a LAPL medical declaration or a Part-Med Class 1, 2. The LAPL medical declaration can be done by your local GP or by any UK CAA approved Aeromedical Examiner (AME). Flying
Syllabus
The syllabus covers 19 exercises over 30 hours. The exercises will include: aircraft handling, approach and landing, navigation and a skills test preparation lesson.
The course can be broken down as general handling, circuits (takeoff and landings) and cross country navigation.
Training
Each lesson will start with a brief and an aircraft inspection before flying. Every maneuvere will be demonstrated by an instructor before allowing yourself to take the controls!
Flying Solo
The first time that you go solo will be something that you will cherish for the rest of your life! Putting all the training and studying into practice and proving that you can fly a plane by yourself!
Our instructors will never send you solo before you’re ready, so enjoy this moment.

The pass mark is 75%
Radio Practical
In order to use radio transmitting equipment you are required to take a practical radio exam. This will test your radio telephony knowledge and allow you to communicate with other traffic and air traffic control units.
